From Downtown Chicago & the Loop

Take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) west to AUSTIN AVENUE (Exit 23A, a left lane exit). Turn right (north) onto Austin Avenue and travel about .7 mile, then turn left (west) onto WASHINGTON BLVD. Travel about 1 mile and then turn right (north) onto S OAK PARK AVE. Go approx .5 miles on Oak Park Ave after you cross under the "L" tracks the Ernest Hemingway Museum is five blocks north on the left.

By Public Transportation

From the North Loop take either the Chicago-Northwestern (Metra) or Green Line "L" to the OAK PARK CTA station. Walk 0.4 mile north to 339 N OAK PARK AVE.

From Evanston & North Chicago

Take the CTA Orange Line "L" to the Loop, then transfer to the CTA Green Line "L" to the OAK PARK CTA station. Walk 0.4 mile north to 339 N OAK PARK AVE

From O'Hare Airport

Exit the airport on the expressway I-190, then turn right onto N RIVER RD which eventually becomes DES PLAINES RIVER RD. Continue south about 4 miles and turn slight right onto N 1ST AVE. Go about 1.5 miles and turn left (east) on Chicago Avenue go 2 miles, turn right (south) onto Oak Park Avenue proceed 3 blocks to 339 N OAK PARK AVE.

By Public Transportation
Go to the CTA station underneath the baggage area, and take the Blue Line to Forest Park. It is important to get a "Forest Park" train and not a "54th/Cermak" train on the same tracks. Exit at the Oak Park Avenue station. Catch a Pace bus or Taxi north on Oak Park Ave to the Birthplace Museum (about 1 mile)

From the Western Suburbs

From most locations, take either the Eisenhower Expressway I-290 or the I-88 extension to I290. Exit (EXIT 21B) from the left lane onto HARLEM AVENUE. Turn LEFT (north) onto Harlem and go .5 miles. Turn RIGHT (east) onto WASHINGTON BLVD and go another .5 miles. Turn LEFT (north) onto S OAK PARK AVE the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum is 6 blocks north.

By Public Transportation
The only real choice is to take the Chicago-Northwestern (Metra) to the Harlem/Marion station. Out of the station walk North one block to LAKE STREET. On Lake Street take a PACE Bus (309 or 313) to Oak Park Ave. Walk north one block to the Birthplace Museum.
